Silas is currently missing his left big toenail. About a month (or maybe more) ago, I was handing him a drinking glass and it dropped directly onto his big toe. I could tell it hurt a lot right away and it turned all purple/black under the nail. After about a week or so the nail separated from the skin underneath and it bled some. Then I cut almost all of the nail off because it was partially connected at the side and I was afraid it would snag on something and tear and hurt him. I recently read that it can take 6 months for a nail to grow back.
His language abilities have fairly exploded over the past couple of months. On June 11th, I wrote a list of some of the words he was saying and how he was saying them. He says a lot more now and sounds so freaking cute that every time he talks I just want to swoop him into my arms and snuggle him. I also talked about how he kept correctly pointing out letters only to call a different letter the same thing right afterward. Since then, he must have worked it all out because now he can correctly identify all of the letters of the alphabet about 90-95% of the time. He used to say "yeah" mostly when he wanted to answer in the affirmative, but he's recently started saying "yes" instead. Only when he says it, it sounds like "yesh," and in his little boy voice is just about the most adorable thing I've ever heard.
He's been playing with the Legos a lot in the past few days. He really likes the little guys, calls them all "Potter," and sometimes he enjoys doing this with them.

Just hearing you describe him makes ME want to swoop him up and hug him!!!!
Poor dude. My right toenail is still messed up after a careless stomp tore the cuticle back at age 13.
I don't know why I expected pictures of foot trauma, but I felt unfilled.
But then heart-warmed, so I guess it's all good. Aww.
