Today our unschooling group had it's annual Not-Back-to-School party. This post would be a lot more interesting if I had remembered my camera. The kids had a great time though, and there was hula hooping, playing in the water at the splash pad, face painting, markers, beading, food, bubbles, and balloons. Plus, the weather has been very cooperative, cooling off by about ten degrees or so for the past few days.
School started here on Monday. If my kids were in school, this year all of them but Silas would be in school. I'm preeeeetty sure that our local elementary school has all-day kindergarten, so even Irina would be gone for most of the day. That's so crazy. I'm so thankful for my kids' ability to sleep as long as they need to, to eat when they want to, to go to the bathroom when they want to, to do things that they themselves chose to do. I'm so glad they spent the day running around in the water and sunshine, playing with friends, and generally enjoying life.

If we were school types, Sam would be starting his second year of preschool. I can't even begin to imagine! Instead we are going to go ride horses tomorrow.
I so agree with you! Glad to have my kids home for all the reasons you stated :)
