Singing the Praises of Booby Juice

So, Harper, after having been sick with the flu and having been very congested, got an earache and then an ear infection. She is morally opposed to any kind of treatment even if it means it will bring her relief from what seems to be mind-numbing pain. So she held onto her ear infection for 7 days.

On Friday in the early morning hours, Saren, who had gone through the same flu/congestion issues, started to complain of ear pain. In looking for home/natural remedies for Harper I had come across the suggestion to put breastmilk in the ear so that the antibodies therein would kill the nasties. Harper wouldn't let me, but Saren approaches pain in a very different manner ("Just do whatever you have to do to make it stop!!!!"), so she was willing. Shortly after I put it in, the pain lessened dramatically. I even managed to get Harper to let me put some in her ear, and it helped her almost immediately too, though not as much because it had been going on longer for her.

Yesterday, after I got in the shower, I started to get an earache too, even though I hadn't had the flu, just the congestion. It started out being not too difficult to handle, so I put some homeopathic ear drops in and we went out to eat and to Target. The homeopathic ear drops didn't do crap. Shortly after eating, it really started to worsen. And then I really understood what the girls had gone through. And it was pure hell. Not just the pain, which was excruciating enough, but there was an added headache and some bonus nausea thrown in for good measure. I am not ashamed to say that it made me cry it was so bad. So I tried the nee-nee in the ear trick and within 15 minutes that was all gone, with just a cloggy feeling left. I woke up this morning with more pain, used some more nee-nee and now I'm doing okay. I expect it's not totally done though.

Blimey, I never would have expected that to happen. And it works! Fantastic.
